What is your favorite quote?
“Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity” - 1 Timothy 4:12 NLT version
How long have you been a member of DonCARES of Philadelphia, Inc?
6 months
What is your favorite thing about spending time with your mentee?
Getting to hear about her day and learn about things other than just school. I enjoy getting to form a relationship with her.
What has being in a mentoring relationship taught you about yourself?
It taught me that people may have the same values as you, but experience life in different ways. It also taught me to value my education and want to share my knowledge with others. I learned that in the past I have taken what I had for granted.
What advice do you have for prospective mentors?
I would advise making plans for your mentee to accomplish by the time the mentorship is over once learning about them. I would tell them to get to know your mentee personally so that you establish a relationship built on trust and strong communication
What do you like most about DonCARES?
I like that we get paired with someone similar to us. I enjoy meeting other mentors doing the same thing that I am doing. I also enjoy that DonCARES does more than just the weekly meetings and goes to the school for workshops and other activities.
